Compare Car Rentals in Connecticut State
|
Home to the Fundamental Orders of 1638-39 comprised
the first written constitution in history, Connecticut owes its nickname "The Constitution
State". Though it doesn’t get the attention that some of its neighbors in New England do,
Connecticut shares many of the attractions that make the region a travel favorite: colonial history,
Atlantic beaches, nautically rich seaside villages and pastoral countryside.
Connecticut is one of the most vigorously independent and productive since Dutch explorer
Adriaen Block discovered the Connecticut River in the early 16th century and
presents a microcosm of New England within a small and easily covered area makes it a good choice
for those who want to get a feel for the region but don’t have a lot of time to do so. And because
it sits right outside New York City, Connecticut can be a pleasant addition to a tour of the Big
Apple.

Leaving Hartford in the inland hills, you can find Bridgeport on the coast. Right next to it is
New Haven, where the Shubert Theater is famous for premieres that later go on to Broadway. The
city is also home to Yale University, which includes prestigious structures like Louis Kahn’s
building for the Center for British Art, as well as the Peabody Museum of Natural History, with
its mural showing what North America might have looked like millions of years ago. Continuing
in the direction of Rhode Island, the small coastal village of Mystic still bears colorful witness
to its shipping and whaling traditions.

It can be confusing, but be aware that when you are quoted a "base rental car rate" it does not
include sales taxes, airport taxes, airport/concession, vehicle leasing fees (vlf), rental
coverages, etc. These charges can increase the total rate by 10-40%. Some airports do not have
all these fees but some do. One more thing to watch out is that if you want to pick up a car
in one state and drop it off in another state, be prepared to pay a significant drop off fee.
The further away the drop off location is from your pickup point, usually the higher the drop
off charge will be.
