In Arkansas, "Southern Hospitality" is more than just a phrase -
it's a way of life. Arkansas is often called the "The Natural State" for its diverse landscapes
and a Four Season climate - great assets for those wanting to explore Arkansas's outdoors.
In Arkansas, anywhere you turn, you'll find links to the states past in Museums and State Parks
and national historic sites. The cultural resources are as rich as the natural ones. and just
give Arkansans the slightest reason and they'll celebrate - and what better way than
a festival.
It's great to be outdoors in Arkansas year round. You can take it
easy and spend a morning in a porch swing listening to the mockingbirds or zoom about on a
beautiful lake. You can swing your golf club along the Arkansas River, fish in the Delta, hike
or bike a hundred trails, float on the Buffalo River while gazing at the beautiful cliffs, or
dig in the dirt for diamonds. There is something for everyone in Arkansas's great outdoors.

Although the hysteria, or "diamond fever" at the Crater of Diamonds in
Murfreesboro that ensued shortly after John Huddleston plucked two diamonds from the greenish colored dirt of his farm has
waned, interest in Arkansas's diamond mine remains high. In fact, about 60,000 people a year come
to Huddleston's old farm site, now the Crater of Diamonds State Park, to search for these precious
gems.
It can be confusing, but be aware that when you are quoted a "base
rental car rate" it does not include sales taxes, airport taxes, airport/concession, vehicle
leasing fees (vlf), rental coverages, etc. These charges can increase the total rate by 10-40%.
Some airports do not have all these fees but some do. One more thing to watch out is that if you
want to pick up a car in one state and drop it off in another state, be prepared to pay a
significant drop off fee. The further away the drop off location is from your pickup point,
usually the higher the drop off charge will be.
