Dallas is known as the banking center of the Southwest and is the third-largest city
in Texas. Dallas offers everything from museums to theaters to gourmet
restaurants and shopping districts. All of these amenities stem from Dallas' rich cultural heritage
and entrepreneurial flare. Over the years, Dallas has grown to become the eighth largest city
in the United States, enjoying a population of well over a million people. Sometimes called
"The City That Never Should Have Been," Dallas now boasts a number of major industries in banking,
communications and insurance and is home to tens of thousands of companies. The history of Dallas
reveals how it has grown from a small town into the booming metropolis that it is today.
Like most major cities, Dallas is connected by a dozen or so major highways, making it easy to
get to various parts of the city. However, don't try maneuvering your way around during rush
hour - a terrible time for driving. It's more convenient to have your own car in Dallas,
